Keeping Still: The Buddha Gate 52

The Sun is transiting through Root Centre Gate 52, the Gate of Stillness, Inaction and Focus.

This is a great week to practice being still and decide what you want to focus on in your life.

When we stay still and focused we can achieve energy concentration. This concentrated, focused energy helps us move steadily towards our goals. We also get more clarity from the place of calmness and stillness. It's like being on top of a mountain from which you can see the bigger picture and understand what needs more attention and focus in your life but also in your environment.

Remember that before every action and movement there is a moment or a period of inaction. Use this inaction to sit still, observe and accumulate your energy. This way you are more likely to move in the right direction as you took the time to contemplate and understand where and how you want to use your concentrated energy now. You can practice this even when choosing a meal at the restaurant or replying to a message on the phone. It is also a wonderful time to consult our Inner Authority.

Most people nowadays struggle with focus, to stay still, to know when to stop. We approach everything in a hurry, we want everything now. There is a pressure that there is not enough time and that we can't stop because " the clock is ticking". Not to mention that we are so conditioned by society to do as much as possible in the least amount of time. A lot of us make hasty decisions and focus on the wrong things as we are afraid that nothing better is coming.

Let's be more like the energy of gate 52, the Mountain, the Buddha and especially now in the times of chaos.

Here are some tips on how to be more grounded and present in the moment:

  • Walk barefoot in the grass, swim in the sea, lay in the sand.

  • Practice grounding meditation where you imagine yourself being a tree growing roots deep in the ground

  • Practice Breath-work

  • Use Essential oils such as Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cypress, Vetiver

  • Spend time in nature and observe it. Focus your attention on leaves, trees and flowers

  • Take sometime every morning and night to sit still and observe your thoughts and feelings

  • Journal

  • Use crystals for grounding (smokey quartz, black obsidian, shungite, tigers eye are some of my favourites)

  • Use the 5-4-3-2-1 Technique :

Acknowledge 5 things your can see around

Acknowledge 4 things your can touch

Acknowledge 3 things you can hear

Acknowledge 2 things your can taste

Acknowledge 1 thing you can smell
